Overton Pictures

The Overton Pictures website originated in 2005 after Overton villagers began showing Tony Morris old photographs and he started to take photos from the positions the old photographers would have stood.  Peter Baker began displaying some of the pictures in his Fireplace Shop where people came to look and bring in their own to share.

Tony decided to put the images on the Internet to reach a wider audience and Overton Pictures was born.  The original objective was to build and maintain a photographic record of Overton and the surrounding area, past present and into the future.

Heritage Overton has now become the custodian of the website and continues to build on Tony’s huge achievement. We experienced problems with the original website(Overtonpictures.com) and now have a new version(Overtonpictures.co.uk), but not all the images with their captions have transferred successfully so more work needs to be done.

We hope you’ll enjoy exploring Overton, from streets and buildings, schools, sports, events, to remembrance.
